Conference “Achille Marzio Romani. In memoria ad un anno dalla scomparsa”
On 30 October 2026, At the Teatro Bibiena in Mantua, a day of study in memory of Achille Marzio Romani will be held, organised by the Accademia Nazionale Virgiliana. On 26 and 28 October 2026, the University of Milan will host a series of three lectures entitled “La pace come categoria giuridica. Tradizione, fondamenti, prospettive”, organised as part of the “La Statale per la Pace” initiative, in collaboration with RUniPace. Prof. Angela Santangelo, Prof. Sara Parini and Prof. Stefania Salvi will be taking part in the event.

On 8 October 2026, Professor Raffaella Bianchi Riva will take part in a seminar EDEN entitled “Alle radici del patriarcato”, to mark the presentation of Ilenia Ruggiu’s volume “The Roots of Patriarchy. A Legal and Genealogical Approach”. The event will take place at the Politeia Library of the University of Milan.

Conference “The Constitutional Right of Academic Freedom in the United States: Judicial Interpretation and Recent Threats”
Milhis is pleased to announce that, as part of the “La Statale per la Pace 2026” lecture series, a lecture by Prof. David Rabban (University of Texas) entitled “The Constitutional Right of Academic Freedom in the United States: Judicial Interpretation and Recent Threats” will be held on 30 September 2026 at the University of Milan. Following the lecture, there will be contributions from Prof. Lorenza Violini (UNIMI), Prof. Giovanni Chiodi (Milano-Bicocca), Prof. Michele Pifferi (University of Ferrara) and Prof. Nader Hakim (Université de Bordeaux).
The event will be introduced and chaired by Prof. Annamaria Monti (UNIMI) and Prof. Antonia Baraggia (UNIMI).

New Publication “Rationem reddere. Diritto, assistenza, cultura scientifica (medioevo e prima età moderna)”
MILHIS is pleased to announce the publication of the volume “Reddere ratione. Diritto, assistenza, cultura scientifica (medioevo e prima età moderna)” edited by Prof. Alessandra Bassani, together with Prof. Marina Gazzini and Antonio Olivieri. This volume offers a collective reflection on the link between rationalisation, computational practices and forms of social organisation in late medieval Italy, using accounting as a key interpretative framework.

MILHIS is pleased to announce that from 13 April to 4 May, the PhD course ‘Diritti e imprese nelle realtà globali. Un itinerario tra romanità e modernità” will take place, organised and taught by Prof. Annamaria Monti and Prof. Iole Fargnoli. The course will consist of three lectures – on 13 April, 20 April and 4 May respectively – and will feature numerous distinguished guests who will address the topic of the legal regulation of economic activities in globalised contexts, bridging Roman tradition and modernity.
