Daniela Buccomino, PhD

&

I am currently a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Milan. I hold a PhD from the University of Bologna and a Diploma in Archival Studies from the Vatican School of Paleography, Diplomatics and Archiving. My scholarship combines archival depth with interdisciplinary approaches, exploring how law intersects with society, culture, gender, and the humanities, with a research profile ranging from the history of justice and legal institutions to law and literature, women’s rights, human rights (with a specific focus on South Africa), and the digital analysis of academic populations.

I am the author of three monographs and numerous articles in national and international journals. My work has led me to present at conferences across Europe and beyond, and to participate in collaborative research initiatives, including the SEED project Unsuspected Crossroads and the Padua project on the history of medicine. I am also involved in outreach and public engagement programmes, convinced that historical awareness can enrich contemporary legal culture.

I belong to several scholarly associations and work within interdisciplinary networks that highlight the many ways in which law shapes our world – and how people, across centuries, have negotiated, resisted, and reimagined it.
